The relationships children form during their earliest years impact their future health, learning and happiness.

To ensure the well-being of today’s young children, those working with children birth through age 8 must be armed with knowledge and skills to build meaningful relationships and create nurturing, stimulating learning environments.

New York Works for Children supports people who work with young children in all facets of their career and works to ensure that they have access to high quality early childhood education and professional development opportunities.

New York Works for Children offers tools and resources to help early childhood professionals and those interested in a career in early childhood:

• Find out what they need to begin a career with young children
• Learn about what careers are available in early childhood
• Understand the required knowledge and skills to work with young children and their families
• Find the education and professional development opportunities they need to work effectively with children and families
• Keep track of their work history, education and the specialized training they acquire throughout their career

New York Works for Children is an initiative begun by the Early Childhood Advisory Council’s Workforce Development work group in 2010. It was designed to support early childhood and school age professionals in all aspects of their education, and career with children and families.
